Sometimes life takes a detour.
And sometimes that detour is the most beautiful part.
I’m Stephanie, and I’m excited to welcome you to The Beautiful Detour! I’m a mid-30s single girl who recently quit my job in corporate marketing to travel the world on my own. I’m documenting my travels here, sharing my tips and adventures, and hoping to inspire you to follow your dreams, whatever they may be!
An achievement-oriented first-born, I grew up in small-town Indiana with a very specific vision of what my future life should look like: successful career, happy marriage, big brick house and three beautiful children. Until my early 30s, I was focused on following that path, putting my desire to travel on hold.
Now at age 36, though I love my life, friends and job in Phoenix; I’m allowing myself to detour from external and self-imposed expectations and toward the travel dreams I previously believed were impossible. I sold my stuff, quit my job and will follow this detour on a year-long exploration of Europe and Southeast Asia.
My adventure begins in Iceland, then Lisbon, and from there, I’m not sure! I don’t have a solid timetable, rules or expectations. For once in my life, I don’t have a plan.
I’m excited to see where this path will lead, and I am honored to have you along for the journey. Thank you so much for joining me on The Beautiful Detour!
